As a result of increased sawmill activity brought on by population growth, the wood industries are facing a pressing challenge in disposing of their waste. The use of sawdust as a substitute energy source will address this issue. Across the globe, notably in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, massive amounts of sawdust are produced every year. Every year, Nigeria produces more wood waste, and the amount of sawdust that is produced causes disposal issues that are of concern to governments and businesses worldwide. Sawdust is estimated to make up between 10 and 20 percent of wood waste. Sawdust briquetting can be utilized to supply fuel as an Alternative energy sources, Wood briquettes have a higher calorific value than the same amount of fire wood. Bulky materials can be made denser using the mechanical compaction process known as briquettes. This procedure is used to mould tiny particles into the desired shape. It may be thought of as a production method for waste control involving agricultural waste. Briquetting is a high-pressure procedure that, depending on the technology being used, can be carried out at ambient temperature or at a higher temperature. Briquetted fuel is environmentally friendly because it produces a smokeless flame when used because of its low moisture content. Sawdust is available in commercial quantities with the right technology sawdust briquette can become a sector that provide investment opportunity which in turns create job for locals and unskilled individual within the community. Sawdust briquette could be used to make building materials or as a substitute energy source for furnaces, boilers, and other heating systems in homes.
